Wilkes-Barre City Plans Solomon Creek Flood Gate Exercise for Monday, May 8th

The City of Wilkes-Barre will complete a drill/exercise and evaluation of the Solomon's Creek Flood gates on Monday, May 8th starting at 9:00 AM.

All four flood gates will be closed and evaluated during the exercise.  The Emergency Response Team will only be closing two flood gates at a time to lessen the inconvenience to residents. However, motorists are urged to avoid the area.

The flood gates on Barney and South Franklin Streets will be closed between approximately 9:00-10:30 AM followed by the flood gates on Regent and Waller Streets from 10:30 AM-12:00 PM.  The entire exercise should be completed by noon.

The exercise enables the city’s emergency responders to remain pro-active in protecting the neighborhood surrounding Solomon’s Creek from flooding.
