Yard Waste

Yard Waste is collected curbside at no additional cost to residents. Each year, yard waste collection begins in late April and ends in late November/early December.

Yard Waste Collection is scheduled to begin on April 23, 2018 & continue until December 7, 2018.

What We Collect

Yard waste includes the following, which should be placed curbside in any open top container or bundled:

Leaves
Leaf Waste (collected during special pick-ups each fall)

Which Containers We Collect Yard Waste From

  • City-Issued Yard Waste Bins (There are no additional bins available at this time)
  • Yard Bins Purchased by Residents (available at home improvement stores)
  • Yard Waste Bags (available at home improvement stores)

Christmas Trees

Christmas trees are collected curbside after the holiday, beginning the first week of January and throughout the month. All items, including ornaments, disposal bags, tinsel and lights must be removed prior to pick-up.


Additional Resources

The Earth Conservancy composting facility is located in Newport Township, Pennsylvania.  Established in 1995, the facility accepts leaf and yard waste from local municipalities and residents in Luzerne County.
