Wilkes-Barre City Mayor Brown Comments on State ATV Law

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Governor Tom Wolf signed a Bill which bans ATVs and dirt bikes from operating on public streets and sidewalks in Pennsylvania’s cities.

The Bill also authorizes cities to confiscate and potentially sell or destroy ATVs and dirt bikes that are determined to have been operated illegally.  The Bill was passed as a response to the drastic increase in the illegal operation of ATVs and dirt bikes on public roads throughout the state.

“I think it’s a step in the right direction,” said Mayor George Brown,  “City residents are reporting large increases in the number of ATVs and dirt bikes being operated in the City.  The City will aggressively impound ATVs and dirt bikes which violate this prohibition immediately, in compliance with the requirements of the law.”

The new law will take effect sixty (60) days after signing
