Wilkes-Barre City Ice Skating Rink Update

Wilkes-Barre Mayor George C. Brown today announced that the city will provide free ice skates for use on the Ice-Skating Rink on Public Square on Friday evenings from 5-8 PM, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons, from 12-4 PM in December, beginning on Friday, December 2nd.  The schedule is weather permitting.

Ice Skaters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Skates will be available free of charge, in exchange for state-issued drivers licenses or identification cards, which will be returned upon skate return.

The ice-skating rink will be open to the public during normal park hours of dawn to dusk and Skaters are also welcomed to wear their own skates.

On Saturday, December 10th, the City of Wilkes-Barre will host the “Santa on the Square” event from 12PM to 2PM on Public Square. Children can have a free picture taken with Santa, courtesy of the city. Families can also enjoy hot chocolate courtesy of the Lions Club. DJ Donnie Evan will provide entertainment and Karel Zubris of the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame will provide an ice skating clinic throughout the event.
