City of Wilkes-Barre Shuts Down Drug House at 101 Old River Road, 1st Floor Apartment
Mayor George C. Brown announced today, that on Monday, March 28th the Wilkes-Barre Police Department served a search warrant at 101 Old River Road, 1st Floor and found a large quantity of illegal narcotics and a firearm. One arrest was made.
The Wilkes-Barre Police Department also notified the Wilkes-Barre Health Department of the deplorable conditions inside the apartment. As a result of the inspection of the premises by the health department it was deemed an immediate danger to the public and occupants, therefore a Notice to Vacate the premises was posted. The property must remain vacant until the Wilkes-Barre City Health Department approves its use.
The owners were operating a rental unit without current rental inspections and licenses. Citations will be filed against the owners.
This notice begins a program initiated by the Brown Administration, which will highlight properties posted for non-habitation by the City Health Department for serious code violations. The owners’ names and addresses will also be published to inform the general public.
