Wilkes-Barre City Suspends Recycling Collection on December 23rd Due to Predicted Inclement Weather

Wilkes-Barre Mayor George C. Brown has announced that the city will suspend plastic, cans, and glass bottle recycling collection on Friday, December 23rd for residents in the East End, Parsons, and Miners Mills neighborhoods due to the predicted high wind and inclement weather. Garbage will still be picked up on Friday, December 23rd.  A Double Collection of plastic, cans, and glass bottle recycling and cardboard and paper recycling will be picked up on Friday, December 30th for residents in the East End, Parsons, and Miners Mills neighborhoods.

12.23.22 Update:

Due to the today’s high wind and the upcoming Christmas Holiday weekend the decision was made to send out additional DPW trucks this morning to pick up recyclables from properties that did not follow the suspended recycling advisory, as to prevent those recyclables from flying into the street and private property. We appreciate all residents who followed the advisory and will be picking up both types of recycling collections next week, Friday, December 30th.

The same garbage and recycling crews are also salting the roadways, in anticipation of today’s predicted plunging temperatures, to ensure safe holiday travel.
