Wilkes-Barre City Representative Attend PA Pain & Addiction Summit

Representatives from the City of Wilkes-Barre recently attended the Pennsylvania Pain and Addiction Summit hosted by Wilkes University and The Luzerne County Medical Society. The event was held at Mohegan Sun Pocono, Plains Twp. on Friday, April 12th.

The Wilkes-Barre City Health Department provided  information on Health Services offered by the city, as well as information on overdose prevention.

On behalf of the Fire Department, Chief Jay Delaney received a donation from Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy students’ Generation Rx program. The proceeds from their 2nd Annual Opioid Awareness Walk will provide funding for naloxone doses in the field. On the efforts of the students regarding the Opioid Crisis, Delaney stated, “Their actions speak louder than words and they are helping the community rebuild from this epidemic.”

Mayor Tony George said, “The City of Wilkes-Barre is proud to participate in this event and continuously work with organizations like Wilkes University and The Luzerne County Medical Society to combat opioid addiction and its damaging effects on the community.”
