Wilkes-Barre City Health Department Partners with Misericordia University and the Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority for Wellness & Physical Activity Program

The Wilkes-Barre City Health Department has partnered with Misericordia University and the Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority to enhance senior high rise residents’ quality of life through a 6-week physical activity and wellness program.

As part of the master’s degree physical therapy curriculum at Misericordia University, students can provide a supervised evaluation and exercise wellness class for high-rise residents without the seniors having to leave their homes.

Free balance screening, blood pressure checks, diabetic foot screening, nutritional information as well as low impact physical therapy group sessions are part of the weekly one-hour program.

The next Free and Fun Wellness & Physical Activity Check will be on Monday, March 13th from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at East End Towers Community Room, 295 Scott Street in Wilkes-Barre.
