Wilkes-Barre City Health Department to Distribute Narcan

Pennsylvania had the highest number of drug overdose deaths in 2017 among all states in the nation. Nearly 5,400 Pennsylvania residents died of drug overdoses in 2017, which is twice as many drug deaths in the state as there were in 2014.

During the week of December 10-16, 2018, Pennsylvania is sponsoring an opioid outreach campaign: “Stop Overdoses in PA: Get Help Now.”

In conjunction with the PA Department of Health, free Naloxone, the lifesaving opioid-reversal medication, will be distributed along with educational material by the Wilkes Barre City Health Department from on Thursday, December 13th, from 11:00AM to 7:00PM at the Kirby Health Center, 71 North Franklin St, Wilkes-Barre.

Anyone who feels they may benefit from having a dose of Naloxone on hand can obtain one, including those who may have a substance use disorder, their family or friends, or those who may come across someone in crisis.
