Electronic Waste and Tire Drop-Off at DPW Suspended

Wilkes-Barre, PA August 26, 2020

Due to the overwhelming response by citizens, the household appliances/electronic waste and tire drop off at the Department of Public Works Yard is suspended immediately.

As the amount of items dropped off by citizens exceeded the available capacity at the DPW yard, the City is currently developing a new residential household item disposal program. The new program will be announced once plans are finalized.

Recycling and yard waste drop-off at the DPW yard will continue for city residents (with ID), and weekly curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste pickup remains as scheduled.

Mayor Brown thanks residents for their patience as the city prepares a process which best meets the needs of our community and ultimately helps to prevent dumping within the city.
