The Riverfront Parks Committee Presents Reptiles of the Watershed
Monday, September 10, 2018 6:30-7:30pm
A Special Presentation with Live Reptiles At the Wilkes Barre River Common Amphitheatre
(Entrance to River Common at Northampton and River Street)

Join the Riverfront Parks Committee and special guest, Jeannie Carl from the Carbon County Environmental Education and Wildlife Rehabilitation CenterCenter as we learn about reptiles.

Most people dread having a surprise encounter with a snake in your backyard or while hiking a trail through the woods. We hope that by meeting one of these scaled, slithery animals in a calm, controlled
setting, you’ll be less frightened, and more understanding of snakes and other reptiles in the wild.

Live snakes are a big part of this program. Most are rescued, discarded pets not native to Pennsylvania. Typically included are corn snakes, milk snakes, western hognose, and one live turtle. Touchable specimens are included in all of CCEEC’s programs, and may include snake skins, turtle shells, and wet specimens (that means things in jars!).

Jeannie Carl has been a full time naturalist at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center since 1998 and has earned the nickname “Jeannie, Jeannie the Reptile Queenie” because of her work and respect of all things scaly.

Bring the family to this hour long program on August 16th and learn more about this reptiles, their habitat needs, and the role they play in our watershed. Environmental Educators will be on-site to showcase live reptiles and answer all of your questions.

Hope to see you there!
