Wilkes-Barre City Health Department & Luzerne Intermediate Unit 18 to Host Brain Fair

The Wilkes-Barre City Health Department and the Luzerne Intermediate Unit 18 BRAINSTEPS team will conduct a Brain Fair on Saturday, February 22nd from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at the Toyota SportsPlex at Coal Street Park. The Brain Health Fair is a family-friendly event focused on concussions and traumatic brain injuries education.

Demonstrations by the Luzerne Intermediate Unit 18 BRAINSTEPS team will focus on concussion awareness through simulated activities. Members of the LIU 18 BRAINSTEPS team as well as the Wilkes-Barre City Health Department will be providing information on concussion management and awareness, traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and associated community resources. A separate demonstration room will be set up off the rink for short educational seminars on BRAINSTEPS and concussion management at 12:45 PM, 1:45 PM, 2:45 PM, and 3:45 PM. Admission is FREE. 

The Coal Street Complex is ADA accessible. This project is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant.
