Civilian Response to Active Shooter (CRASE) Event Request

With active shooter events happening across the world, it only makes sense to be prepared. Sign up and receive FREE training from Patrol Officers who are passionate about what it takes to keep you safe!

Law enforcement officers and agencies are frequently requested by schools, businesses, and community members for direction and presentations on what they should do if confronted with an active shooter event. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, medical issues, and drills.

This two-hour training is being offered by the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department to schools, colleges, businesses, hospitals, and places of worship. For more information, please call the Community Policing Office at 570.208.6672.
